Typography 8/30

Weight: The overall thickness of the strokes, in relation to their height
Width: How wide the letterforms in a typeface are in relation to their height
Style: Broad term that refers to several aspects of a typeface

How is type measured in inches, mm, points, or picas: the point system
point: measurement used in printing, the meaning of which has changed over time
pica: unit of measure corresponding to 1/72nd of its respective foot
How many points in an inch? 1 pt = 1/72 inch
If a letter is set in 36 pts about how many inches tall is it? 1.35
how many picas in an inch? 1/72
How many points in a pica? 12 pts = 1 pica
x-height: corpus size refers to the distance between the baseline and the mean line
cap height: Height of a capital letter above the baseline
leading: distance between lines
