Senior Portfolio '08-'09
For Sale.
For Sale.
This was one of the pieces I refer too as my "Break Through Pieces". I never experimented with mixed media and when I finally did I fell in love with it! I felt that I had natural grasp at finding materials that worked well with one another. In this piece, I used cardboard as the canvas- stripping and tearing at it to apply texture. I continued with a acrylic and torn paper and magazine. I stenciled text and small dancers- strung from red thread. I enjoyed doing this piece because it was experimental and evoked a certain emotion.

I experimented with watercolor and ink. I sketched out the image of the peacock and proceeded to watercolor the particular areas that I wanted to cover. Then I went over the entire subject with ink, pulling out the areas I wanted in greater detail.
This is a watercolor composition that I did of my backyard in St. Louis. I wanted to capture the subtlety of the light playing across the leaves and the shadows that appeared with the shifting sun. I started with a very light, watery wash of the base colors. I continued with this technique until I had built the colors up to the level that I wanted. I left the background a muted grey to pop the foreground colors.
Herron IUPUI Screenprint Summer '08
At my IUPUI Art & Design camp, I was exposed to a variety of different types of art. Screen printing was an amazing experience for me. I loved the process and the outcome. Screen printing provoked my already existing interest in T-shirt design. I hope I can integrate screen printing into my career later in life.
